Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) What is EFTPS? EFTPS is a tax payment system provided to taxpayers by the US Department of Treasury at no charge. More than six million taxpayers are currently enrolled in the system Why enroll in EFTPS? Secure Fast Accurate Convenient (no more trips to your financial institution) Easy to use Helps reduce penalties EFTPS enables you to pay excise, employment taxes and quarterly estimated tax payments. EFTPS payments can be made through the internet or by telephone. You can initiate your tax payments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and up to 120 days in advance for businesses and 365 days for individuals. This means you could schedule your four quarterly estimate payments in advance and not have to worry about remembering to pay them each quarter. You can also cancel payments through EFTPS as long as the request is completed at least 2 business days before the scheduled payment date. What do you need to enroll?
